 This may be due to the advent of computing technology that is now able to reach and benefit the masses. Additionally, the Internet  has driven networking as a means to share information and learn from each other.

 However this can be seen as a double-edged sword.

Hyper provision of information can result in losing out on important content amidst  the overwhelming amount of details out there.

For example, how many of us born in the 80s (who experienced the aforesaid Information Age in our formative years) know that  the land of Bharat of the past millennia extended right from the present day Afghanistan to as far as Myanmar in the East!

 Today’s Kandahar, where we often hear only of suicide bombings and lost lives,  was once a well- known kingdom from where Gandhari of our revered epic Mahabharatha hailed! 

 How many remember that, with the influx of new religions and the imperialism that followed, that large tract of land that was once Bharat got splintered into several nations over the centuries, leaving secular India in the middle.  
 
While the nations that came into being in that process (e.g Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh) were Islamic and not secular to accommodate – let alone respect or embrace other religions -  the parent land which gave rise to these nations is still very much secular.  

 This can perhaps be attributed to the strong  principles in Hinduism not to impose itself on others.

Having said that, it is wise to recognize the threat in society today to this oldest of religions.

 Over centuries, Hinduism has seen many challenges to its existence and growth. It has stood the test of various dynasties, foreign invasions, entry of other religions, plundering of its rich arts, culture and architecture by some fanatic invaders and other challenges.

It has survived all of these. And in a sense, it may be becoming a victim of its own success.  It is now being  generally assumed that the natural resilience of its followers will sustain the religion in the centuries to come.

This should not be taken for granted.  There are a few serious threats have emerged, especially in this hyper information age.
 
Very different from other monotheistic religions such as Christianity or Islam, the Hindu faith regards several central or prime deities together with their incarnations/avatars, their clans etc as Gods.   Temples that feature one or more of them in various parts of the nation have existed for centuries and new ones are also springing up at times.

 However what seem to gradually deteriorate are the
(a) understanding on the core values, beliefs of this incomparable religion
(b) the meaning  behind the many rituals which are components of this faith.  At critical moments, there is a chance that different followers may interpret the scriptures differently to take it down different  paths
(c) process of resolving conflicts arising from different schools of thought, and lastly
(d) unity and pride among the followers.
 
We may not be able to pin-point  any era or persons in particular who may have been responsible for  emergence of this pitiable situation.

But it is now in our hands, collectively, to restore the dignity and reverence to our faith.

 With its firm belief in principles such as LIVE AND LET LIVE and revering even nature – land, water, trees, flora and fauna – i.e, co-existence and respect for every aspect of the globe, Hinduism is an extremely powerful fore-runner to the GREEN campaigns that the world is witnessing now!  
 
Yet the faith faces challenges every day partly because of lack of awareness of its followers.  When one  reads of mass changes, such as is happening in the North East of the nation where gradually the religion is fading and is being taken over by vehement campaigns by other faiths , it perhaps is still brushed off as something minor.

While, unlike in some other faiths, there are no groups or sections which take on the responsibility to spread the faith, there needs to be at least a conscious effort by EVERY follower to preserve and protect it !

 That can only happen if
(a) we devote a little time regularly to develop 100% clarity on what it stands for – seeking guidance/clarifications from scholarly resources and texts around and not to interpret on one’s own or to approach half- baked commercially minded gurus
(b) practise the preachings of our ancient sages and scholars,
(c) develop pride in the faith and
(d) do it all with unity among fellow Hindus.  
 
One of the tips offered by a sage in the last century was to not perhaps put money into building more temples but to first help restore those dilapidated structures of the past and to help regain their glory! 

 Wherever we are settled in the world, during every opportune occasion, it would be good to take the family and kids to such locations and enrich them with culturally invaluable lessons.  Even if demands on our time prevent us from offering lengthy prayers at dawn or dusk, it is still vital that we role-model sound religious practices as ‘walking the talk’ in order for the generations that follow to emulate them without discontinuity.
 
It may still not be too late to play our roles for this cause.  I can only hope every follower does his/her bit.

Our planet is dying day by day, is there is any solutions to save the dying nature.

Each individual should ask himself and need to take actions immediately. Many of the action can be start from home itself. Take a pledge today itself.

The warming of earth is due to the discharge of green house gases (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide etc into the atmosphere) and also by natural effects like radiation.

The green house gases can be reduce by

• Cut down unnecessary use of your vehicle (Agree that the vehicle is your and you paid for the petrol and road taxes, but this is a small initiative to save the earth)
• Use roof garden (nothing but plants in your terrace) – helps to reduce the usage of air conditioner (It can reduce the inside temperature down but in result it is increasing the atmospheric temperature)

Plastic Usage

• We are using lot of polythene bags during our daily shopping, by using carry bags; it can reduce up to a certain limit.
• Make a small vegetable garden, where you can use your daily food waste as compost.

Love your environment like your home; do not pollute it, because your home is stable only with a stable environment…

ഈശ്വാരാന്വേഷകരെ നാം പലപ്പോഴും കാണാറുണ്ട്. ചിലപ്പോള്‍ നാം തന്നെയും അതിനു മുതിരാറുണ്ട്‌. ഈശ്വരനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു ഇറങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പ് അത് എന്താണെന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതാണ് ഉചിതം. ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ ഓരോ അണുവിന്റെയും  സ്പന്ദനം ഈശ്വരനാണ്. ഈശ്വരന്റെ ചൈതന്യം നമ്മുടെ ശരീരത്തില്‍ നിന്നും വേര്‍പെടുമ്പോള്‍ അത് വെറും ജടമായി തീരുന്നു. നമ്മെ ജീവാവസ്ഥയില്‍ നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന ആ ചൈതന്യം തന്നെയാണ് പ്രാണവായുവായും, ദാഹജലമായും, സൂര്യനിലുടെയും – ഭൂമിയിലൂടെയും അന്നമായും നമ്മിലേക്ക്‌ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നത്. അങ്ങിനെയെങ്കില്‍ ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ എല്ലാത്തിനെയും അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും, സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും, ആരാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴാണ് ഭക്തര്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്.  അത് കൊണ്ട് ഈ സത്യം അറിഞ്ഞവര്‍ക്ക് ഈശ്വരന്‍ അടുത്തും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് വളരെ അകലെയുമാണ്. ഈശ്വരനെ അറിയാത്തവന്‍ ഒരിടത്തും ഈശ്വരനെ കാണുകയില്ല.

ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാധാന്യം
അങ്ങിനെയെങ്കില്‍ എല്ലായിടത്തും നിറഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ഈശ്വരനെ കാണാന്‍ നാം എന്തിനു ആരാധനാലയങ്ങളില്‍ പോകണം എന്നുള്ള ചിന്ത സ്വാഭാവികം. യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ ഈശ്വരനിലേക്കുള്ള അകലം കുറക്കുക എന്നതാണ് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ ധര്‍മം. നമ്മുടെ സംസ്കാരത്തിന്ടെയും കലയുടെയും ഉറവിടവും  ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇന്ന് മിക്കവാറും ആരാധനാലയങ്ങള്‍ ഭക്തിയെ വ്യവസായമാക്കി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്. എന്താണോ ക്ഷേതങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് അതില്‍ നിന്നും ബഹുദൂരം മാറി സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

നമ്മുടെ ആചാര്യന്മാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ളതില്‍ നിന്നും വിഭിന്നമായി ഈശ്വരനെയും, ഭക്തിയെയും കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ദേവനെയോ ദേവിയെയോ എഴുന്നുള്ളിക്കാനെന്ന പേരില്‍ ഈ സാധു ജീവിയെ വേദനിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ നമുക്ക് കഴിയുന്നത്‌. മുന്‍ കാലങ്ങളില്‍ എല്ലാ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും ആനകളെ എഴുന്നുള്ളിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ ഇന്ന് ഉത്സവങ്ങള്‍ മല്സരമായത്തോടെ, ചെറിയ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില്‍ പോലും ആനകള്‍ സാധാരണമായി. അതിനാല്‍ പരോക്ഷമായി നാം ഓരോരുത്തരും ഈ കണ്ണീരിനു കാരണമാകുന്നു.

ഈ തലമുറയില്‍ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ മുന്‍ തലമുറയില്‍ മുകളില്‍ കാണുന്നത് പോലെ അമ്മയോടും മറ്റു ബന്ധുക്കളോടും ഒപ്പം ആനന്ദത്തോടെ ജീവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാകും. ഈ ആനന്ദം സ്വര്‍ണതിടമ്പ്  കൊണ്ട് നല്‍കാനാകില്ല, സച്ചിദാനന്ദ സ്വരൂപനായ ഈശ്വരന് ഈ തെറ്റ്  ക്ഷമിക്കാനുമാകില്ല.

You might be wondering what is the relation between GOD and bribe. God is not asking for bribe, but to get things done, you are approaching GOD with bribe. You always going temple with requests like your kids admission, kids exams, job transfer, salary hike and the list goes on. For the same admission one will offer 100 Rupees, 2nd one offer 10 Rupees and third one requesting the GOD without any offer (as he is poor).  Can you imagine the request, which is going to consider by the GOD. If your answer is “ LET HIM DECIDE” then you can reach the GOD easily. Actually GOD does not want your money or gifts as he is creator of all these. You can do minimum offerings for temples so that the day-to-day activities should go smooth. If you are paying more it will results in corruptions.

The sacred Sabarimala temple surrounded by 18 hills, which is having Tiger reserve forest, flowering plants, medicinal plants, Elephants and other animals. Now these animals and plants are facing troubles for survival because of large number of pilgrimages, buildings and wastes.

Our Veda’s teach us to love everything in the nature and becomes close to the GOD – BRAHMA. But by disturbing the balance of Nature, we are moving away from the GOD. The “Pancheekaranam” says that the secret of creation is by the combination of the five basic elements like Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. So it is our responsibility to not pollute the basic elements and do not disturb the balance of nature.

At present if we want to keep the Sabarimala and the holy Pampa clean, need to build a better system, which is again going to cut more forests. So the only solution now left is instead of an annual pilgrimage, let us go through out the year. By that the authorities can manage the system at minimum facilities. Apart from that each devotee should take care of the following during the Sabarimala trip.

Tips to keep Holy Sabarimala clean

Reduce food and avoid using toilets at Holy Sabarimala and Holy Pampa

We used to take fasting in most of the occasions in the name of GOD. There is a small suggestion to the devotees who are visiting Sabarimala. Why can’t you take a 2 days fasting (less food) which reduces the use of toilets at Sabarimala and Pampa. As a result, which can reduce the human waste (the biggest problem, which pollutes water in Pampa and same water is distributing near by areas for drinking purpose) in Sabarimala region.

Do not throw Plastics in Sabarimala, which destroys the Echo-System

Like other tourist places we are dumping lot of wastes like biscut cover, plastic cover and other plastic materials. As a devotee you should love the nature but not to disturb them. So each devotee should pledge that today onwards he would not do any disturbance to the nature. Whatever you are taking to the Sabarimala should take them back – not to dump in hill areas and River Pampa.

Follow these to save Holy Sabarimala and Holy Pampa

• Do not spend more than 12 hours in Sabarimala and Pampa.
• You might be using plastic raincoats, while climbing Sabarimala during rainy season. Please do not throw them in Sabarimala area after use.
• Keep the empty Biscuit covers, chocolate covers, plastic covers and pan covers with you. Please do not throw then in Sabarimala
• The Devaswom Board and other authorities not at all interested in keeping the Sabarimala clean, so each and every Devotee should take care of keeping Sabarimala clean and hygienic
• Devotees should not make any disturbance to the echo system
• Visit Sabarimala in off seasons, which help the authorities to control the process of cleaning Sabarimala and related areas.
• Do not pollute Pampa – the holy river, as this water is supplying nearby districts for drinking purpose.

Like all other festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi also has historic values. It is celebrated all over India, as it is the birthday of Ganesha. During festival season the people worship the Ganesh idols in their houses or at a common place for one to ten days. After that the idols are taken celibately through the streets and immersed in River or Sea.

In olden days the idols are made by clay, wood or metals and it was not harmful to nature. But now because of the use of Plaster of Paris, it is destroying the balance of the River and Sea. Indian Rishis not encouraging any festival, which is harmful to the Nature. They asked us to love the Basic elements like Space, Air, Water and Earth and keep clean as it is. Because of competition we are making bigger and bigger idols, which is going to make more in balance to the nature.

So we are requesting all the devotees to do worship through which you can get the Gods blessing. The person who is the destroyer of Nature cannot be a friend of GOD – Brahma- Paramatma. We Indians deviated from the real path that lead to Moksha or Ananda.
